Every gun owner needs to pay close attention to this.

The gun control lobby is pushing hard for a radical gun ban.

And this one just won a crucial victory.

Colorado used to be a Republican state, and there are still pockets of the state that are very rural and that have a high population of gun owners.

However, over the years, Democrats managed to take over the state, and now it has a Democrat legislature, a Democrat governor, and more liberal policies than ever before.

This should be a warning sign to anyone who thinks their state is conservative and will therefore never pass gun control in the foreseeable future.

People in Colorado surely thought that years ago, but things have changed quite a bit since those days.

Just last year, the Colorado legislature made a strong push for an “assault weapons” ban and only failed because they were thwarted by Rocky Mountain Gun Owners.

But now they are back at it again, and this time they are trying to pass a ban on detachable magazines, and the bill just won a crucial victory by passing a committee vote.

According to Colorado Politics, “This session’s most significant gun bill went before the Senate’s State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee, where witnesses spoke for over eight hours about mass shootings, the Second Amendment, and gun safety.”

“After hours of testimony the measure was passed in a 3-2 vote along party lines.”

Gun owners everywhere should pay attention to this, because it shows that the gun control lobby’s strategy for the next few years will be targeted largely at the state level.

And it also shows that even in states that used to be conservative and Republican, gun owners cannot sit back and assume things will always be okay.

The article continues, “Senate Bill 003, sponsored by Sen. Tom Sullivan, D-Centennial, and Julie Gonzales, D-Denver, and Reps. Andrew Boesenecker, D-Fort Collins, and Meg Froelich, D-Englewood, would prohibit the manufacturing, distribution, transfer, and sale of semiautomatic firearms with detachable magazines and gas-operated semiautomatic handguns with detachable magazines.”

“Exceptions would be made for inherited firearms, transfers to individuals in other states, firearms with attached tubular magazines, federally licensed firearm dealers, prop guns used in movies, and firearms purchased by law enforcement officers.”

“The bill also allows the Department of Revenue to revoke the permits of firearms dealers who violate the law and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to deny firearm transfer to individuals convicted of violating the law within five years before the transfer.”

It’s not too late for gun-owning Coloradans to mobilize and defeat this legislation, and there are many who are certainly trying to right now.

But for those outside of Colorado, it is worth paying attention to the playbook that the gun control lobby uses and then coming up with plans to defeat it.

There will surely be many people across the country following this fight as it unfolds, and it will be fascinating to watch what ends up happening.
