After several shooting incidents that took place in Democratic-controlled cities on the weekend of July 4th, President Joe Biden called for elected officials to pass an “assault weapons” ban, “high capacity” magazine ban, universal background checks, and other gun control schemes.

According to a Breitbart News report, 30 people were shot in Baltimore at a block party in the early morning of July 2, 2023.

As AWR Hawkins of Breitbart News noted, the state of Maryland already has an “assault weapons” ban, “high capacity” magazine ban, universal background checks, and a multitude of other gun control proposals on the books.

Breitbart News also called attention to how at least 32 people were shot from June 30 into the morning of July 2 in Chicago. Three of the shooting victims died of their gunshot wounds.

Owing to Chicago being the state of Illinois’s largest city, it has an “assault weapons” ban, “high capacity” magazine ban, 72-hour waiting period on firearm purchases, mandatory gun owner licensing, and several other gun control measures.

Philadelphia experienced a high-profile shooting on the evening of July 4 that resulted in the deaths of four men, in addition to the death of a 15-year-old boy. The alleged Philadelphia murderer was a cross-dresser who supported the radical leftist Black Lives Matter organization.

Biden responded to the series of shootings by publishing a statement where he said, “It is within our power to once again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to require safe storage of guns, to end gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and to enact universal background checks.”

It’s in the gun controller’s DNA to call for civilian disarmament measures following every mass shooting or series of mass shooting incidents. These people never let a crisis go to waste. None of these measures will do anything meaningful to stop crime. After all, gun control disarms the law-abiding or at least makes it more difficult, while allowing criminals to freely terrorize innocent people.

If public officials wanted to honestly solve the crime problems plaguing America’s once great cities, they would do everything possible to implement tough law-and-order policies against criminals and allow for lawful citizens to arm themselves.

In this case, gun control is not an answer.
