ABC News has gone completely rogue.
They are now promoting the end of all gun rights.
And now there is a firestorm of controversy after their extreme demands.
In the past, news organizations would at least pretend to be neutral on the hot-button political issues of the day.
Of course, the people who run these news organizations are human beings with opinions. That has always been the case.
But there was real value in the fact that mainstream media groups had to maintain a veneer of neutrality.
They wouldn’t directly take stances on issues, or directly support or oppose various candidates. Whatever biases they had, they had to tamp them down for the sake of reporting the news.
Of course, that has completely gone by the wayside, and the latest fiasco involving ABC News is one of the clearest examples yet.
ABC News has decided to promote a radical anti-gun activist named Dominic Erdozain whose views on guns go well beyond the typical liberal positions.
Erdozain wants to wipe out the entire Second Amendment in this country. He is very explicit in that view, and it appears that ABC News subscribes to it as well.
Here is what Erdozain had to say in his interview: “I think they have no place in a civilian society. I, I’m very critical of handguns in the home. I know a lot of people here in Atlanta who have them. And if you look at the data, you look at the statistics, It’s the families of those people who are in the greatest danger. So I’m a bit of a kind of purist on this matter. But yeah, I think handguns really don’t have much place in a modern society.”
Even on the left, very few politicians will openly advocate for a nationwide ban on handguns. Normally they will go after “assault weapons” alone.
Getting rid of handguns in addition to so-called “assault weapons” would wipe out virtually all guns in America.
Erdozain also put the blame for violence in America on law-abiding gun owners. Here’s what else he had to say: “So I suppose my most challenging chapter is called The Myth of the Law-Abiding Citizen. Well, I just show that the intimate connection between the good gun owner and the violence that we’re all suffering. And even if these law-abiding citizens are not committing crimes on an individual level, they’re feeding into the narrative and the legitimacy of arms. And that’s something that is also accepted to some degree on the left as well as the right.”
Apparently Erdozain believes that anyone who owns guns is essentially a criminal and is morally culpable for any action that someone else takes with a gun.
This is the kind of nonsense that ABC News is now promoting on its news channel, in the hopes that Americans will be fooled into believing it.
