This could get ugly very quickly.
Congress is bringing the worst nightmares of gun owners to life.
They are taking up a horrible gun control proposal that will make Joe Biden very excited.
Democrats in Congress are fully on board with Joe Biden’s agenda to pass more gun restrictions and make gun control one of the key pillars of his administration.
They are serving the interests of the gun control lobby by trying to chip away at the Second Amendment more than anyone has in the recent past.
While most Democrats are smart enough to know that a total ban on guns will be struck down in court within about 10 minutes, they are using gradual methods to try to get rid of guns in society.
One such method is being pursued by Georgia Rep. Lucy McBath.
McBath is trying to create yet another category of banned firearms, in this case semi-automatic weapons that are gas-operated.
It is yet another attempt to make certain groups of gun owners criminals overnight just by virtue of the fact that they own a weapon that is banned.
According to The Truth About Guns, “Last week, in celebration of ‘Gun Violence Awareness Month,’ Democrat U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath introduced HR 8600, the ‘Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Firearms Exclusion Act (GOSAFE),’ in the House. A similar bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate last November but hasn’t gained any traction in that body.
“In the past, such proposed bans have used a combination of cosmetic features and lists of specific firearms that would be restricted. This measure would specifically targets rifles, shotguns and pistols that use any sort of spent propellant gasses to cycle the action during the reloading process.”
These legislative developments have fired up the gun control lobby as they now see a clearer path to achieving major gun control during Biden’s term as president.
Many such lobbyists reacted with excitement when they received news that Rep. McBath had filed this bill.
Here’s what John Feinblatt from Everytown for Gun Safety had to say: “As weapons of war have become commonplace in America, so has the unfathomable carnage they wreak on our communities. We applaud Representative McBath for introducing innovative legislation that would regulate assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, which are capable of creating devastating destruction in an instant. We urge Representative McBath’s colleagues to pass this bill before yet another community is forever scarred by someone filled with hate and armed with an AR-15.”
Fortunately, the U.S. Senate still has the filibuster in place, so if 40 senators decide to block this bill then it cannot reach the desk of Joe Biden.
But many politicians who are ostensibly pro-gun have been so cowed by the liberal media that they refuse to fight for gun rights anymore.
So it remains to be seen if enough U.S. senators will stand up and do what is right to block this bill.
The gun control lobby is certainly hoping that they fold instead of fighting back against this gun control monstrosity.
