These words were not meant to be heard by the general public.
Merrick Garland had very specific instructions for the ATF.
And you’ll be outraged when you hear about the private message he delivered.
The Biden administration has made it clear that they will not rest until they unwind all of the Second Amendment protections that have defined America for generations.
The ATF is at the core of that fight, as they are the agency that has been utilized by Joe Biden as the enforcers for his anti-gun agenda.
Merrick Garland, as the Attorney General and head of the Department of Justice, has a leading role in this as well.
He gave a speech to the ATF that received little coverage from the media but had some very interesting and concerning remarks.
During the speech, Garland expressed his approval of the anti-gun crackdown that the ATF has been engaged in and urged them to do even more.
He also made it clear that the end goal of the Biden administration is far more ambitious than the policies that have been enacted so far.
According to a transcript from the Justice Department website, here is what Garland had to say: “We have expanded access to the range of advanced technological tools here at ATF — including ballistics analysis, firearms tracing, and crime gun intelligence centers, as Steve just recounted.”
“We also know that our work is far from over. There is no acceptable level of violent crime.”
Of course violent crime is bad. But Garland is effectively blaming law-abiding gun owners for the violent crime that has been taking place.
He makes that clear later in the speech as he ties the violent crime spree to the private gun sales that many law-abiding Americans have engaged in.
“That is why, pursuant to BSCA, the Justice Department has published a new rule to update the definition of being ‘engaged in the business’ of dealing in firearms.”
“Under this regulation, it does not matter if guns are sold on the internet, at a gun show, or at a brick-and-mortar store: If you sell guns predominantly to earn a profit, you must be licensed, and you must conduct background checks.”
“This regulation is an historic step in the Justice Department’s fight against gun violence. It will make law enforcement officers safer. It will make communities safer. It will save lives.”
This is where Garland is completely off base. The new regulations will not save lives, they will simply put peaceful gun owners in a more precarious legal position where they risk having the ATF bust into their house.
Garland then concludes by saying that the ATF and the DOJ are just getting started in their crackdown.
“Our work is far from over. Progress is only progress. Our work is not done until all Americans feel safe in their communities.”
It’s clear that Garland is instructing the ATF to double down on their unconstitutional activities and continue to put the heat on gun owners like never before.
