O.F. Mossberg and Sons has been around since 1919 and is well known for its Mossberg 500 & 590 shotguns, the Shockwave, their hunting rifles, and its AR style rifles. In 2019 they entered the pistol market and introduced their MC1sc pistol, a compact 9mm for the exploding Everyday Carry Market. Then came the MC2c, which I reviewed in 2021, something a little bigger, but still compact enough to bridge the gap between a sub-compact and a full-size pistol. Now Mossberg has introduced the MC2sc. A Micro-compact, Everyday Carry pistol that’s optics ready!
THE FRAME
The frame is a high-tensile strength, glass-reinforced polymer that features Mossberg’s signature aggressive grip, texturing, and palm swell for a confident, firm grip under a variety of shooting conditions. The sights are dovetail mounted, and come standard in a low-profile, snag-free, White 3-Dot configuration. The trigger has a flat profile and uses an integrated trigger safety blade. The slide stop is for right handers, but the magazine catch is reversible. There’s a picatinny rail for mounting lights and lasers. Mossberg also has models that come with tritium sights and/or a manual safety if that’s what you want!
THE SLIDE
The optics-ready slide allows easy direct mounting of Micro Dot optics. The slides are 416 stainless steel with Black DLC finish, and angled serrations for positive slide manipulation. A good feature Mossberg uses is its disassembly procedure. Instead of pulling the trigger before removing the slide, you simply push a button on the back of the slide. Now you can remove the striker assembly and slide without pulling the trigger. This should keep a few people from installing a hole in their hand!
