The SHOT Show is underway in Sin City where firearms industry manufacturers are introducing all their new gear. Smith & Wesson announces they’re in the 5.7 game with the introduction of their new M&P 5.7 pistol, packing 22+1 rounds of high-velocity, flat-shooting centerfire 5.7x28mm! The M&P® 5.7 features their new TEMPO® barrel system, and a lock-breech two-part barrel with a proprietary gas system. Let’s take a look.
THE FRAME
The Black Polymer frame on the M&P®5.7 is fully ambidextrous with mirrored controls and reversible mag release. The frame features a slim full-size grip with enhanced texturing, and the internal hammer-fired single-action with the flat-faced trigger is light and crisp with an audible reset.
THE SLIDE & BARREL
The slide on the M&P®5.7 features three-dot white sights as well as an optics-cut and is available with or without a thumb safety. The M&P® 5.7 features front serrations, lightning cuts, and a 5″ barrel with 1/2×28 thread for mounting a muzzle device or suppressor. Both the slide & barrel are manufactured from stainless steel and finished in Armornite.
