This is not what Second Amendment supporters wanted him to do.

He made gun owners very concerned with this move.

And it could lead to some bad consequences.

Donald Trump has become a hero to many on the right because of how much he infuriates the media and the left, and how they have been completely unable to stop him.

Many people in the gun community feel the same way, as they have enjoyed watching him over the years and particularly have enjoyed seeing his political opponents squirm in response to him.

But the truth about Trump is he is from New York, he did not grow up around guns, and guns do not appear to be an important issue for him.

His record during his first term in office was decidedly mixed on guns, and many people have questioned what exactly he will do in his second term.

He has said some good things, but his choice for attorney general was one that concerned people.

And when Pam Bondi went up to Capitol Hill for her hearing, she said some things that raised even more questions about Trump’s selection of her.

According to The Reload, “On Wednesday, Pam Bondi told the Senate she stood by her record on guns. When Senator Alex Padilla (D., Calif.) questioned her, Bondi emphasized that she has ‘always been pro-Second Amendment.’ However, she also said she’d follow applicable laws.”

“When Senator Padilla asked if she’d support raising the minimum age for firearm purchases, implementing ‘Red Flag’ laws, and passing universal background checks, she didn’t commit one way or the other. Instead, she offered to follow up with him after the hearing.”

The correct answer to that question for Bondi would have been “no.” She should have clearly articulated that she would not support those things.

Being noncommittal on fundamental Second Amendment issues is not a good start for the AG nominee.

The article continues, “Bondi’s decision not to walk back her support for new gun restrictions during her time as Florida Attorney General and the fact no Republican Senators questioned her about those views despite public opposition from several gun-rights groups signal the GOP is prioritizing other factors over strict adherence to pro-gun policies when considering Trump’s top nominees.

“After all, Senator Padilla asked about Bondi’s background on guns because he approved of her support for temporary gun confiscation measures, often called ‘Red Flag’ laws, and other restrictions during her tenure in Florida. However, many of those restrictions were ones that Trump himself voiced support for at the time. In fact, Trump brought Bondi to the White House to discuss potential solutions after the Parkland school shooting in 2018.”

It’s obvious that gun owners will have to keep a very close eye on Bondi if she is confirmed as attorney general.

Her track record on guns is not very good, and even Trump’s track record is very mixed.

The Trump administration will be better than the Biden administration on guns, but if gun owners don’t speak up loudly, it could still be a disappointment.
