This is something Donald Trump must pay attention to.
Big news just broke about gun control in America.
And Trump will not be able to ignore this.
Donald Trump may not have to face the voters again, as he will be term-limited out of office in 2028, but he still is going to want to stay on their good side.
That’s because his ability to pass his agenda will depend heavily on who wins the midterm elections in 2026, as well as who succeeds him in office in the next presidential election.
That’s why the latest news, which shows the unpopularity of gun control, should make his ears perk up and influence how he governs America on this issue during his upcoming term.
Americans are apparently much fonder of politicians who support the Second Amendment and the freedom of gun owners to carry firearms for their self-defense, as opposed to politicians who push gun control, according to a major poll.
Trump received a huge amount of support from people who own guns, and if he wants to retain their support for his preferred candidates, he would be best served to pay attention to this poll.
According to The Truth About Guns, “Results of a brand-new McGlothlin & Associates survey indicate that the American public favors judges who strictly follow the Second Amendment and politicians who defend the right to keep and bear arms.
“The national survey, conducted the week of December 11 and commissioned by the Second Amendment Foundation, also revealed that the majority of Americans believe incoming President Donald Trump and a Republican majority in Congress will better protect Second Amendment rights than Democrats would have if they had been victorious.”
This news means that gun control is unpopular, at least in comparison to politicians who protect the Second Amendment.
Donald Trump has a history of being a bit flaky on the gun issue, and that’s why it would behoove him to read this poll carefully and make decisions accordingly.
The article continues, “The question concerning federal politicians defending Second Amendment rights yielded very similar results. It read: ‘How important is it to you that our political leaders in Washington, D.C., protect and defend the Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Constitution of law-abiding gun owners?’
“For that question, about 77% or respondents answered very (49%) or somewhat important (27%), compared to 15% who said it was not important at all. About 6% of respondents said they didn’t know or refused to answer the question.”
These are big numbers in favor of the Second Amendment, and ones that should serve as a wakeup call to Donald Trump and other Republicans who might consider going soft on the issue.
The best move they could make politically would be to support gun owners and protect their freedoms.
If they do that, they could receive the support of millions of Americans who share the sentiments reflected in the poll, despite what the gun control lobby might try to say to the contrary.
