Chuck Schumer is on a mission to ban guns.
He got word about a Supreme Court ruling he didn’t like.
And he delivered a chilling threat about a nationwide gun ban.
It’s been a bad week for gun-hating politicians, as the Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump’s 2017 ban on bump stocks was unconstitutional.
Since then, Democrats and some Republicans have been in a panic trying to find a way to circumvent this ruling as they fear that more Americans will want to buy them now.
Chuck Schumer, the Senate majority leader from New York, is one of the most anti-gun politicians in America, and he is looking for any opportunity he can find to chip away at the Second Amendment.
With the uproar on the left about this Supreme Court ruling, he is taking full advantage and delivering a scary threat.
He wants to use Congress to ban bump stocks in a way that will be difficult if not impossible to reverse.
And gun owners everywhere need to be aware of what Chuck Schumer is up to so they can organize and fight back.
According to a report from Axios, “A wave of Senate Democrats is backing a bipartisan bill to ban bump stocks after the Supreme Court threw out a federal ban on the gun attachment, Axios has learned.
“Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will try this week to pass a bump stock ban — knowing he’s likely to draw an objection from at least one Republican, which would thwart the effort but boost Democrats’ pre-election messaging.
“Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have picked up 20 new cosponsors for their Banning Unlawful Machinegun Parts (BUMP) Act since the ruling.”
As the article states, it seems that this bill is unlikely to pass in the current session, but with an election coming up and the makeup of the Senate about to change, anything is possible.
Schumer is hoping to get the momentum rolling in favor of more gun control.
The article continues, “Even a single GOP objection would give Democrats the opportunity to paint Republicans as broadly against a ban that polls have shown is popular and was put place under the Trump administration.”
“In its 6-3 ruling last week, the Supreme Court’s conservative majority argued that bump stocks do not convert semiautomatic rifles into what the law defines as a machine gun.”
If Democrats succeed at their messaging around gun control and win a significant number of races in the fall, they could have more power next year to actually pass Schumer’s bump stock ban.
And they could even manage to pass some of the more extreme gun control bills that they have queued up as well.
Chuck Schumer and his left-wing allies are trying to rally the anti-gun movement across the country and win sweeping victories.
And if they succeed, they are hoping to pass some of the strictest gun control bills through Congress that this country has ever seen.
