Florida State Representative Monique Miller (R) District #33, Palm Bay, was elected to the Florida House of Representatives on November 5th, 2024, and she fits right in with the RINO sleeper cell that’s taking over Tallahassee.
One of Miller’s campaign promises was to file an open-carry bill during the 2025 session. She received endorsements from gun rights groups like Gun Owners of America and was thought to be a conservative. Once again, the people were fooled into placing this swamp creature in the Florida House.
Miller went to the Capitol and voted for Speaker Perez’s amnesty bill and went to work on sabotaging open carry. Miller put the bill into draft, which kept it from being introduced by another legislator. This move effectively kills open carry for another year.
Miller campaigned to expand gun rights, particularly open carry. Florida is one of only five states that bans open carry. In a radio appearance on Bill Mick Live, she “swore” to file the bill, stating, “I’m a big gun rights person, and open carry is definitely one of my priorities during my legislative career,” telling Mick that the bill was being drafted and was committed to seeing it through.
Did I mention that Miller is on the board of Moms for Liberty? In her case, it means Moms for Some Liberty.
In an interview on the Bob Rose radio show, Luis Valdes with Gun Owners of America said that Miller promised to file our open carry bill. She now says it isn’t the right time. Miller was endorsed and supported by GOA, which lobbied for her in the district.
When asked why Miller would do this, Valdes pointed out that House Speaker Perez has made it clear that anyone challenging his wishes will be destroyed. During the special session amnesty fight, Florida Representative Mike Caruso voted no on Perez’s watered-down bill. He was promptly removed from his committees, had his corner office taken away, and was banished to the basement of the Capitol. Perez has also let it be known that anyone forming a Freedom Caucus will suffer the same fate.
The Florida Senate is also holding up open-carry legislation. Senate President Ben Albritton claims law enforcement is against open carry, which has already been debunked. When that claim is made, they generally refer to police chiefs and sheriffs. While some exceptions exist, these people are generally more politicians than anything else. If you are looking for an honest opinion on open carry, ask a patrol officer or deputy.
Governor Ron DeSantis has repeatedly stated that he will sign the bill when it hits his desk. The governor also called for a repeal of former Governor Rick Scott’s red-flag legislation as well as the unconstitutional provision that keeps 18-20-year-old persons from purchasing firearms.
That’s all for now, folks! Please keep sending your questions, tips, and article ideas. And as always – “Let’s Be Careful Out There.”
