Gun owners have been wondering what Donald Trump will do in his second term.

He has kept his cards close to his chest.

But one big promise that he made will thrill gun owners if it comes true.

Most gun owners who live in red states have no trouble walking around with a concealed handgun, as it is a normal thing to do and protected by the government.

However, in blue states that have more of an anti-gun attitude, gun owners can have a very hard time jumping through all the hoops that are required for concealed carry.

Now that Donald Trump has been elected president, however, he has promised to change that.

Trump has endorsed concealed carry reciprocity, which would allow people who are legally allowed to concealed carry in one state to do so in any state throughout the country.

This could normalize concealed carry in blue states like California or Massachusetts where it is culturally frowned upon.

And by normalizing it culturally, it could spur these states to relax their laws a bit and let gun owners in their states concealed carry without causing them any issues.

According to Newsweek, “Donald Trump promised to sign ‘concealed carry reciprocity’ legislation if he won a second term in office.”

“The policy would allow gun owners with a concealed carry permit from one state to legally carry their weapons in other states.”

“Every state in the U.S. permits some form of concealed carry, but the regulations can vary widely.”

This could be a game-changer for gun laws in America, as it would make it harder for blue states to crack down on guns the way that they have.

If non-residents in blue states are walking around with concealed handguns, then gun owners in those states might start to wonder why they aren’t allowed to do so as well.

It could lead to a big push to ease the burdens on gun owners who want to concealed carry in various blue states.

The article continues, “Some states do not require a permit to carry concealed weapons, while others demand permits, stipulating certain conditions. States such as California and New York have particularly strict requirements.”

“Trump spelled out his intention to change the law in a 2023 speech, stating: ‘I will protect the right of self-defense everywhere it is under siege. And I will sign concealed carry reciprocity. Your Second Amendment does not end at the state line.’”

“This more lenient policy is also supported by other pro-gun groups, including the National Association for Gun Rights.”

Donald Trump has not always lived up to gun owners’ expectations, as he had some policies in his first term that left Second Amendment advocates unsatisfied.

But things could turn out differently in his second term, now that he doesn’t have to worry about facing the electorate again and can largely do what he wants.

Getting concealed carry reciprocity through Congress will be daunting thanks to the filibuster, but Trump is apparently going to try his best to make it happen.
