Gun owners are thrilled as this judge delivered for them in a big way.

The anti-gun lobby is on its heels.

And one massive gun control law will no longer be enforced.

Court can be a nerve-wracking place for gun owners, as it can be a crapshoot whether a judge will be friendly to their interests or chip away even further at the Second Amendment.

But fortunately, there are some good judges who are willing to rule in favor of gun owners, and Maine residents will reap the benefits of one of those judges after this latest decision.

Ever since Democrats retook the Maine legislature, they have not been friendly to gun rights, and things have been looking very dim.

But fortunately, a judge delivered an injunction against the state’s 72-hour waiting period law, which became law thanks to the efforts of Democrats just last year.

Now gun purchasers will have one less hurdle to jump over in order to exercise their constitutional freedoms.

And the state’s Democrat majority is surely not happy about this latest development which helps Maine gun owners and harms their gun control efforts.

According to The Truth About Guns, “U.S. District Court Judge Lance Walker has granted a preliminary injunction blocking Maine’s 72-hour waiting period law for firearm purchases, which was challenged by gun-rights advocates.

“The law, passed in 2024 after Gov. Janet Mills allowed it to become law without her signature, required firearm retailers to delay delivery for three days after an FBI NICS background check approval.”

Gun owners across Maine will surely appreciate what Judge Walker has done for them and will be on the edge of their seats to find out if this law is struck down permanently.

Right now the injunction is only temporary, although it does seem to indicate that Judge Walker is not sympathetic to the arguments of the anti-gun politicians.

The article continues, “Judge Walker dismissed Attorney General Aaron Frey’s argument that the Second Amendment does not cover acquiring firearms, calling it ‘interpretative jui jitsu that would make Kafka blush.’

“Plaintiffs include a domestic-abuse survivor and firearm instructor who helps other survivors defend themselves and an FFL forced to delay sales to those facing immediate threats. NSSF supported the challenge, emphasizing that the law emerged after the Lewiston murders due to pressure from gun control groups, despite a state commission finding systemic failures, not gun laws, as the cause of the tragedy.”

Walker’s smackdown of the AG will get gun owners everywhere excited and will make them wish there were more judges out there like Lance Walker.

That is something Trump supporters are certainly hoping he will do during his second term, as he now has the power to appoint judges to the bench.

The anti-gun lobby will likely appeal the ruling to a higher court if this law is ultimately struck down.

This fight is not yet over, but gun owners in Maine can rest easy for a while knowing that at least one judge is looking after their interests.
