The Rock Island Armory TM22 is a new-age rifle, built to the newest standards with the classical attributes needed to pass on to generations. It is produced to Rock Island specifications by Derya Arms in Turkey, using 7075 Airplane Grade aluminum from end to end.

THE RECEIVER

The receiver is milled from a block of 7075 aluminum with a barrel nut securing it in place. It’s compatible, featuring AR-type grips, commercial buffer tube adapter, top rail, and forend that takes most aftermarket accessories.

The TM22 comes stock with right-handed controls but the rifle comes set to convert from right-handed to left-handed, making it ready for all shooters.

THE BARREL

The barrel is 18 inches, with 20 inches available. The barrel is threaded in ½-28 and uses an O-ring to keep the thread protector in place while shooting.

THE VERDICT

I’m not wild about the use of proprietary magazines, or the fact the safety lever functions opposite from other rifles: up for fire, down for safety. But at the end of the day, the TM22 is a fun, reliable little gun for plinking or small game hunting at a decent price point. Check one out and see if it’s for you.

That’s all for now folks! Please keep sending in your questions, tips, and article ideas. And as always – “Let’s Be Careful Out There.”
