Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, a notorious gun hater, poured an estimated $1.2 billion of his fortune into the November 2020 elections, and much of it was wasted, a new report shows.

According to the AP:

[Bloomberg’s] only win during a short-lived Democratic bid for the White House was in the territory of American Samoa. And after pledging to spend “whatever it takes” to defeat President Donald Trump, he routed $110 million to Florida, Ohio and Texas — all states that President-elect Joe Biden lost.

Bloomberg’s biggest losses came in Ohio and Texas, where Biden lost by 8 and 6 percentage points, respectively.

Everytown for Gun Safety, Bloomberg’s gun control advocacy group, was handed $60 million to unseat pro-gun candidates, yet, as GPM has reported repeatedly, gun control has not been a popular policy with American voters lately, and support for increased gun control measures is the lowest it’s been since 2016.
