O.F. Mossberg and Sons has been around since 1919 and is well known for its Mossberg 500 and 590 shotguns, then its AR style rifles.

In 2019, they entered the pistol market and introduced their MC1sc pistol: a sub-compact 9mm for the exploding everyday carry market. Now Mossberg has come out with the MC2c. Something a little bigger, but still compact enough to bridge the gap between a sub-compact and a full-size pistol.

The frame is a glass reinforced polymer with an aggressive grip, a large beavertail, and front rail standard. The MC2c is equipped with a 5.5 lb. trigger pull and uses an integrated blade safety. It has an optional cross bolt manual safety as well.

The slide is stainless steel and comes in black or a matte stainless finish. It comes with slide serrations front and rear for easy manipulation, and Mossberg has their STS (Safe Takedown System) installed. The STS helps reduce accidents by having the shooter unload the firearm, lock the slide back, remove the push button striker plate, and then remove the striker assembly before removing the slide. It does not require pulling the trigger for disassembly for cleaning.

Like many new compact pistol models, engineers designed the MC2c with a narrow grip for better concealed carry. The pistol comes equipped with a 13-round flush fitting magazine, as well as a 15-round magazine. There is also an option for a 1- round model for states violating the Constitution. The magazines are high-quality Mec-Gar models manufactured in Italy.

The MC2c has proved its accuracy with various test firing data of 2.5 to 3.2-inch groups at 25 yards. Particularly good for a 4” barrel. Barrel length is critical for accuracy, and Mossberg uses a 4” barrel for a good balance. When things get ugly, you want to bring enough gun to put rounds on target!

The competition amongst gun manufacturers for the everyday carry market is intense! Engineers are working overtime to outdo the other guys as well as improve on their own designs. Gunpowder readers know what that means! Better designs, more options, and great prices! The Mossberg MC2c is a well thought-out, well-engineered, reliable, accurate weapon at a great price!

That’s all for now folks! Please keep sending in your questions, tips, and article ideas. And as always – “Let’s be careful out there.”
