The war on guns in New Mexico has escalated.

Gun owners are in fear for the most basic freedoms.

And the governor has announced a crackdown like nothing ever seen before.

Michelle Lujan Grisham didn’t get the reaction that she expected during her last crackdown on guns, but that hasn’t stopped her from continuing to eliminate the Second Amendment.

She thought she would have been hailed as a hero for her attack on gun rights, but instead, even many Democrats distanced themselves from her and said she had gone too far.

The smart move after all of that would have been to retreat, and to leave gun owners and their constitutional rights alone.

But instead, she is so stubborn that she has decided to double down on her terrible decision and announce an even bigger crackdown on the rights of gun owners.

She has announced a package of gun control bills that she hopes will pass the legislature and attack gun owners who live in her state.

But there is a major backlash brewing against Gov. Lujan Grisham, and this one may turn out even worse for her than the last one did.

According to The Center Square, “New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham revealed her so-called public safety legislative agenda this week, including many gun control measures.”

“Monisha Henley, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs at Everytown for Gun Safety, praised the governor for her gun control agenda.”

“The gun control measures come as gun rights advocates recently urged the state’s Supreme Court to block gun-control emergency orders enacted by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham last year.”

“The governor’s controversial order banned people from carrying guns at public parks and playgrounds in Bernalillo County, including Albuquerque. The state Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case on Monday, January 8.”

Here is a sampling of some of the things that the new gun control legislation seeks to do. According to the article, “ERPO amendments designed to amend the Extreme Risk Firearms Protection Order Act. Specifically, it will provide an expedited process where orders are issued 24-7 via an on-call judge, a requirement of immediate relinquishment of firearms upon service of an order. This legislation also changes reporting parties to include law enforcement and health care professionals.”

It also says that “Prohibiting guns in parks and playgrounds will make it illegal to carry a firearm in county or municipal parks, playgrounds, and their accompanying parking lots.”

This is an outrageous attack by a governor who has made it clear that she does not think the Second Amendment of the Constitution should exist.

Most anti-gun politicians will couch their language in claims that they “aren’t trying to take guns away, they just want common-sense regulations” or things of that nature.

But Lujan Grisham isn’t even bothering with that. She is laying all her cards out on the table – she wants guns taken away completely.

And she hasn’t learned a single thing from her embarrassing mistake earlier this year that led to so much criticism.
