This new law is going to do serious damage to the Second Amendment.
It was just signed into law, and it will soon go into effect.
Gun owners are going to be in deep trouble if this law doesn’t get struck down.
States like New York already have significant gun control, and it doesn’t work, as evidenced by the mass shootings that have taken place in blue states, such as the Buffalo supermarket shooting.
The rational response to that would be to acknowledge that the laws haven’t worked and to try a different approach.
But that’s not what left-wing voters in New York, and other blue states, are demanding, and so the politicians they elect are happy to oblige their wishes by cracking down even harder on gun owners.
New York just passed a law, and Gov. Kathy Hochul signed it, that will make their gun control laws even stricter and make life even harder for New Yorkers who own guns.
It’ll especially make life difficult for anyone looking to sell guns in the state of New York, as it adds a whole layer of restrictions to that process.
According to The Truth About Guns, “New York’s already beleaguered gun owners are facing even more restrictions thanks to Gov. Kathy Hochul recently signing several more arguably unconstitutional measures into law.
“On October 9, Hochul signed six new anti-gun bills into law. One bill, SB 6649, infringes on the First Amendment rights of licensed gun dealers and gunsmiths not by telling them what they can’t say, but telling them what they must say. The measure requires gun retailers to post within their place of business a warning about the ‘risks that come with owning a firearm.’ It also requires gun sellers to provide information about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to buyers at the point of sale.”
This creates a whole new set of risks for gun dealers since if they miss any of the required steps, they could be in deep legal trouble.
These new requirements could dissuade people from wanting to sell guns at all.
The article continues, “Another measure, SB 8479, mandates that payment processors assign firearm/ammunition specific merchant category codes (MCCs), which are used by payment processors (like Visa and Mastercard) and other financial services companies to categorize transactions. A special MCC for gun and ammunition purchases was adopted last year by the International Organization for Standardization. MCCs are used by payment processors (like Visa and Mastercard) and other financial services companies to categorize transactions.”
This has become a popular way for left-wing politicians to attempt to track people who buy and own guns.
What they intend to use that information for remains to be seen, but it can’t possibly be anything good.
New York gun owners are facing a crisis that has been created by their own elected leaders.
It is about to get more difficult than ever to own or sell guns in New York, and the same thing is happening in blue states across America.
