The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), a national firearms industry trade association that puts on SHOT Show each year, is proving just how dangerous David Chipman is by launching an ad campaign against his nomination as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).
Chipman quit his job at the ATF to go work for the gun control lobby, the NSSF ad notes, warning that Chipman will politicize the agency to take away freedoms.
The ad, which you can watch below, “is to run in Maine and West Virginia, home to two senators who haven’t made up their minds on Chipman, Sens. Angus King and Joe Manchin,” reports the Washington Examiner.
Chipman is an official spokesman for the anti-gun group Giffords, for which he has “repeatedly advocated for banning America’s most popular firearm, the modern sporting rifle, and he laughed while he mocked America’s new gun owners,” reports the NSSF.
“If that wasn’t bad enough, he also advocated for the government to forcibly close firearm retailers at the height of the pandemic, many of which are small, locally owned businesses.”
As GPM reported previously, Biden’s would-be future ATF head is not only a career bureaucrat and rabid anti-gun advocate, he has also said some things that should terrify not only every gun owner in America, but every citizen who values his or her right to due process.
Chipman has voiced support for every Biden gun control measure there is, and then some. The most disturbing thing Chipman has championed is arresting people before they commit a crime.
Yes, you read that right.
During a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) forum last year, one person asked about background checks, to which Chipman replied:
Yes. While at ATF I conducted studies involving people who failed background checks to determine how many later committed crimes with a gun—many did. This is a perfect opportunity to arrest people before committing crimes rather than responding after the fact.
The Firearms Policy Coalition just said in a message to supporters, “Chipman is headed toward the full Senate for consideration as ATF Director. He’s now just two votes away from seizing control of the tyrannical ATF and waging full-scale war on law-abiding gun owners. Democrats Joe Manchin (WV) & Jon Tester (MT), as well as Republican Lisa Murkowski (AK) have yet to take a position.”
