No one has betrayed the Constitution more than Chief Justice John Roberts.
He has chipped away at nearly every amendment in the Bill of Rights.
And now Roberts has launched yet another stunning attack on the Second Amendment.
The national media frequently talks about how the Supreme Court currently has a “6-3 conservative majority.”
But the truth is far more complicated than that. In reality, there are only three justices who vote to defend the Constitution with any regularity – Neil Gorsuch, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito.
The other three “conservative” justices – Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Chief Justice John Roberts – have been flakes ever since the day they stepped into the highest court.
They have caved to pressure from the liberal media on a regular basis and refused to protect basic rights.
That seems to be happening again in the Rahimi case, which is testing the limits of the government’s ability to strip certain people of their Second Amendment rights based on subjective determinations.
During oral arguments, Roberts has appeared inclined to side with the Biden administration and against the Second Amendment advocacy groups who have been involved in the case.
According to Reuters, “U.S. Supreme Court justices on Tuesday appeared inclined to uphold the legality of a federal law that makes it a crime for people under domestic violence restraining orders to have guns in the latest major case to test the willingness of its conservative majority to further expand gun rights.”
Roberts grilled the attorneys representing the man who had his guns taken away, saying: “You don’t have any doubt that your client’s a dangerous person, do you?”
The issue at hand is whether restraining orders, which can be obtained by nearly anyone for almost any reason, are sufficient reason to strip someone of their constitutional rights.
The article goes on to say, “Some of the conservative justices, who hold a 6-3 majority, questioned the scope of the administration’s argument that, under the Second Amendment, people who are not ‘law-abiding and responsible’ – categories that include domestic abusers – may be barred from possessing guns.
“Some of their questions, however, signaled openness to finding the law in harmony with the Second Amendment by applying a standard that would disarm people deemed dangerous, as opposed to merely irresponsible.
“Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts focused on the word ‘responsible,’ suggesting it was too broad.”
This is yet another example of so-called “conservative” justices on the Supreme Court betraying the conservative citizens of America.
Roberts has already done that on a number of other significant constitutional issues, and he is doing it now with the Second Amendment.
If a restraining order is sufficient to take away someone’s guns, then anyone can have anyone else’s guns taken away simply by telling a court that they feel “unsafe” and need a restraining order.
This would be a disaster for the Second Amendment.
John Roberts seems to be on the verge of destroying the Second Amendment, and one can only hope that the other five “conservative” justices on the Supreme Court unite to stop him.
