Joe Biden and his team are willing to pull any stunt to make gun control a national reality.
Their latest tactic is one of the sneakiest yet.
And many people are calling out the Biden administration for using deceptive tactics.
There is a very specific way that laws are supposed to pass in this country. They originate in the House or Senate, they pass each chamber, then they go to the president’s desk for signature.
When ambitious Democrat politicians realize that they don’t have the numbers for this, however, they are more than happy to resort to sneaky and deceptive techniques to get what they want.
Often those techniques involve the use of executive branch agencies, which Congress has foolishly delegated significant power to over the years.
These agencies report to the president, and with Biden in the White House, they are run by liberals who hate guns and are willing to do whatever it takes to ban them.
Now Democrats are attempting to use the Office of the Surgeon General to make gun control happen, even though it is far outside the purview of his office.
According to The Truth About Guns, “United States Surgeon General Vivek Murthy declared that ‘gun violence’ constitutes a public health crisis Tuesday but cited fake mass-shooting data from the long-debunked Gun Violence Archive to support his spurious claims.
“Murthy presented his finding in a 40-page Surgeon General advisory, titled ‘Firearm Violence: A Public Health Crisis in America.’”
It’s clear that this is an attempt to set up some kind of executive action against guns, which cuts Congress completely out of the process.
And while it remains to be seen exactly what that attack on gun rights will look like, it is not an accident or a coincidence that the surgeon general is making these kinds of statements.
The article continues, “In his report, Murthy cites data from the Gun Violence Archive more than four times.
“Founded in 2013, the GVA quickly became the administration’s source of choice for mass-shooting data because they hype the numbers. The small nonprofit came up with its own extremely broad definition of a mass shooting, which says anytime four or more people are killed or even slightly wounded with a firearm regardless of the circumstances, it’s a mass shooting. For example, according to the GVA there were 417 mass shootings in 2019. The FBI says there were 30, because it uses a much narrower and more realistic definition, which excludes gang-related and drug-related shootings, which the GVA includes in its data.”
The data that Murthy is using is clearly bunk, and he is using it not for scientific purposes, but to push the political narrative of the administration that he answers to.
It is yet another sneak attack by anti-gun Democrats to get gun control across the finish line despite the fact that they don’t fully control Congress.
Gun owners need to be keenly aware of what these officials are trying to do so that they can stop it.
