The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) has teamed up with Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to warn gun owners about the threat against the Second Amendment looming in the UN Small Arms Treaty.

Dudley Brown, NAGR president, has labeled the treaty an “International Gun Registry,” telling supporters:

This Treaty would effectively allow foreign bureaucrats to DESTROY your Second Amendment freedoms.

In fact, after reading through the details of the Treaty, it’s hard to see how our Second Amendment could survive such an assault.

Perhaps the worst of the Treaty’s provisions can be found in Article V, which mandates countries establish a “National Control List” — a recordkeeping system to track “end users” of “small and light weapons” for a “minimum of ten years.”

Were this treaty to be enacted, it would burden every law-abiding citizen with virtually every gun control mandate the left has dreamt of for years, including so-called “high-capacity” magazine bans, license requirements, and mandatory screening of would-be gun owners. Oh! And seeking to buy a gun for self-defense isn’t a good enough reason under these mandates.

With Rand Paul’s help, NAGR is mounting a massive campaign to defeat this disastrous measure before the Senate. For more information and ways to help with the fight, click here.
