Gun grabbers have come up with some extremely wild ways to ban guns.
This may have been the most ridiculous of all.
But thankfully, this crazy gun control law was finally taken off the books.
Democrats are constantly going on about “gun violence” and trying to blame it on Second Amendment supporters, in an attempt to make a case for more gun control.
But one place gun violence is quite rare, if it even happens at all, is when people are out on the lake fishing.
That’s right – fishing. The state of Wisconsin had a law in place that said people cannot carry guns while they are fishing.
The fact that this even became a law in the first place is crazy. Fishing is not an activity that lends itself to gun violence, any more than mountain climbing or jet skiing.
It’s anyone’s guess why gun grabbers felt that this was the hill to die on, but clearly the state of Wisconsin has finally thought better of it.
The law is now coming off the books, and gun owners will once again be able to carry while out on the lake.
According to US News, “People fishing in Wisconsin will soon be able to carry firearms after a rule banning them was rescinded by the state following a lawsuit brought by gun rights advocates.
“The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources agreed in an order released Wednesday to rescind the rule barring anglers from carrying firearms. The lawsuit challenging the ban as a violation of the constitutional right to bear arms was brought by the conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty.”
One can only imagine how many other nonsensical gun control laws exist in various states across the nation.
Hopefully this will be the start of a movement to take as many of them off the books as possible.
The article continues, “The DNR agreed to rescind the rule, enacted in 1999, as soon as possible and both sides submitted a joint motion to dismiss the lawsuit.”
“WILL had argued that the rule was overly broad and limited all firearms along waterways in the state, not just those that could be used to harvest a fish.’
“The gun ban has not been enforced since 2011 when Wisconsin legalized the carrying of concealed weapons, said DNR spokesperson Molly Meister.”
This is yet another example of bureaucrats sticking their hands into matters that they have no business interfering in.
People who carry guns while fishing out on the lake aren’t harming anybody, and there is no reason the government should be going out of their way to ban it.
But bureaucrats have to find a way to keep themselves busy, and they do so by creating silly, nonsensical laws like this.
This is why state legislatures, and Congress at the federal level, need to take back power, instead of letting these agencies run wild.
Otherwise, you will end up with laws that say people can’t carry guns while fishing, for whatever reason.
