Taurus took their outstanding G3 to another level with the new G3 Tactical. The first factory custom variant of the G3 series gives the shooter plenty of options for aftermarket upgrades to use for their particular mission. Let’s take a look.
THE FRAME
Taurus set the G3 tactical apart from the standard black G3 by giving its polymer frame a Magpul flat dark earth (FDE) finish, and purposely removing the manual safety to ensure a quick draw-and-fire under stress. The outstanding G3 series trigger system remains. It features a 2-stage, flat-faced trigger designed to provide light take-up with a distinct wall, crisp break, and short reset capabilities. Another feature of the G series trigger comes in handy in a failure-to-fire situation: the shooter can reset and pull the trigger again to re-strike the primer. A MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail lets the shooter accommodate most pistol-sized tactical lights, laser sights, or light/laser combinations.
THE SLIDE & BARREL
The first thing you’ll notice is the beautiful Patriot Brown, Cerakote finish. Next is the addition of the Taurus T.O.R.O (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide with 4 interchangeable red dot mounting plates. The G3 Tactical has tall co-witness sights, which are the optimal height for suppressed shooting without a red dot optic. When equipped with a red dot, the gun can be used as back up iron sights. The loaded chamber indicator gives the shooter visual verification that a cartridge is loaded in the chamber. A ½-x28 barrel is factory threaded for attaching suppressors or compensators. Diamond Like Coating (DLC) provides low friction, providing increased durability.
