ABOUT RUGER
Sturm, Ruger & Company was founded by William B. Ruger and Alexander McCormick Sturm in 1949 in a small, rented machine shop in Southport, Connecticut.
When the duo designed their first semi-auto pistol, Ruger decided to incorporate the looks of the German Luger and the Colt Woodsman into their first commercially produced .22 caliber pistol, the Ruger Standard. The Standard became so successful that it launched the entire company.
THE GEN II
Ruger has updated its classic American rifle line by listening to user feedback to improve on the already great American Hunter.
THE RECEIVER & INTERNALS
Updates to the receiver include the three-tang safety, which allows the rifle to be loaded while the safety is on, the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, which can be set between 3 to 5 pounds, and a factory-installed Picatinny scope base.
THE BOLT & BARREL
The three-lug, 70-degree, one-piece bolt is machined from stainless steel and fitted with an oversized bolt handle for easy manipulation. The medium contour threaded barrel features spiral flutes that reduce weight at the muzzle end and is then equipped with a cold hammer-forged radial muzzle brake. The bolt, barrel, bolt handle, and muzzle brake are all Cerakoted.
THE FURNITURE
The stock has been updated with the Ruger Power Bedding System, which supports the receiver while allowing the barrel to free float. Ergonomics are improved with an adjustable length of pull and comb. The soft rubber recoil pad is designed to collapse and absorb recoil progressively, and the stock is finished in a flat dark earth (FDE) splatter finish that provides grip without being abrasive.
