ABOUT JACOB GREY FIREARMS

Jacob Grey is a third-generation machinist with a lifelong passion for firearms. He began learning to weld and operate CNC equipment at the age of nine, and he has worked in machine shops ever since. In 2012, he founded Jacob Grey Precision Machining and began manufacturing parts for the aerospace industry. Using his experience as a supplier for aerospace/defense, he has transformed the brand into firearms that give you precision, reliability, and accuracy.

All primary firearm components are machined using aluminum billet and machined with the direction of the grain for durability, strength, and tolerance accuracy that give Jacob Grey firearms a unique precision-cut design and fit. Every Jacob Grey firearm is hand-built individually, inspected, and tested to produce an elevated level of craftsmanship and comes with a lifetime warranty.

 THE JACOB GREY TWC 9

Most manufacturers represent the wide-body 1911; the TWC 9 is the latest take on the 2011-style pistol. The Jacob Grey TWC 9 represents a modernized double stack 1911, featuring a two-piece grip and frame combination meticulously crafted from aerospace-grade billet 7075 aluminum.

THE FRAME

With Jacob Grey’s vast machining experience, the frame, lower grip, 3.5-pound one-piece flat trigger, and beaver tail are fully CNC machined from billet aerospace grade 7075 aluminum and treated with military-grade hard coat anodization, an ambidextrous safety, a flared magazine well for fast reloads, and a four-slot dustcover rail for lights or lasers.

THE SLIDE & BARREL

The fully machined 416 Stainless Steel slide is optics-ready with “X”-form cocking serrations, a loaded chamber indicator, and a two-piece guide rod. It’s equipped with XS suppressor height sights featuring a fixed U-notch rear and drift adjustable orange tritium front sight. The 4.25″ bushingless bull barrel is made from 416R Stainless Steel with a 1:10 twist and equipped with a target crown.

THE VERDICT

The TWC 9 is a high-quality 2011-style pistol priced in the middle between imports and high-end pistols like the STI/Staccato, and I think this is an excellent price for a pistol with these features, workmanship, and attention to detail.  It ships with two 17-round magazines, a soft case, optic adapter plates for the RMR and RMSc footprint, and an Allen wrench for the guide rod.

That’s all for now, folks! Please keep sending in your questions, tips, and article ideas. And as always – “Let’s Be Careful Out There.”
