The Chiappa Firearms CBR-9 Black Rhino pistol is an original design. Created as a PDW (Personal Defense Weapon), the Black Rhino has several patents pending that make it unique.

All mechanical components are located in the steel upper receiver, while the polymer lower receiver is basically just the grip.

Unlike traditional semi-auto firearms, the hammer sits above the barrel and swings downward instead of upward. This semiautomatic pistol adopts an improved and efficient blowback system, with a bolt that is half the weight of competitors’ products, which uses its high mass and inertia obtained by the way the hammer and the bolt interlock with one another.

The low-axis barrel design of the Black Rhino contributes significantly to an almost nonexistent muzzle flip. And the efficient flash suppressor visibly reduces muzzle flash.

The balance and ergonomics of this semiautomatic pistol, along with the practical collapsible stock (unique in its genre), create compactness and efficiency.

The Black Rhino features characteristics that cannot be compared with any other PDW firearm on the market, granting optimal controllability and precision shooting – even to people with little to no training.

The Black Rhino features include a hand stop and Picatinny rails for lights or lasers on the forend. The weapon also has a bolt release that is ambidextrous and a manual safety. This PDW can be field stripped easily without tools.

The magazine design is one of the Black Rhino patents. The magazine adopts a proprietary design in a search for reliability, using a double-stack design that transitions to a single stack for feeding. The magazine will work with any 9mm ammunition, and the Black Rhino comes shipped with standard 18 rounds magazines.
