This new law is going to be catastrophic for the Second Amendment.
Millions of people who own guns will be under serious attack.
The Democrats made a sudden and shocking move to impose gun control.
Gavin Newsom has made it his mission to turn California into a breeding ground for the most extreme left-wing policies in the entire nation, no matter what impact it has on his state.
This includes gun control, which remains one of the hottest and most polarized political issues in the entire country, with leftist activists pushing politicians to do more to restrict guns in America.
Gavin Newsom is trying to burnish his resume for an eventual presidential campaign, and he is trying to appeal to the most radical segments of his base.
That’s why, even though he is supposed to represent all Californians, even the ones who own guns, he is instead coming after their constitutional freedoms.
He is exciting the passions of the most aggressive anti-gun activists in the hopes that they will back his campaign whenever he finally decides to make a run for national office.
And he has just signed into law one of the worst gun control bills in any state in the entire country.
According to ABC News, “California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed several gun control measures Tuesday, including one that allows the court to consider stalking and animal cruelty as grounds to restrict access to firearms.
“The state already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. The new laws signed by Newsom will expand restrictions on who could own firearms, prevent the proliferation of ‘ghost guns’ and increase protections for domestic violence survivors.”
Of course ABC News frames it in the most appealing way possible, but what Newsom is trying to do is expand the number of ways the state may attempt to take away someone’s guns.
This gives the state more potential angles to use against gun owners in the hopes that they can get something to stick.
The article continues, “A person who has a misdemeanor charge dismissed because they were found to be mentally incompetent will also be prohibited from possessing a gun. Current laws only apply such restrictions to cases involving felony charges.
“Another law targets ghost guns by requiring law enforcement agencies to prohibit their contracted vendors from selling guns meant to be destroyed. The measure received bipartisan support from the Legislature.”
“The California Legislature, which is controlled by Democrats, has advanced some of the strictest gun laws in the country, but many have not survived court challenges.”
The fact that losses in court haven’t dissuaded Democrats in California from passing even more gun control bills shows that they aren’t planning to stop anytime soon.
They are on an ideological mission to rid their state of guns and they are not going to let the courts get in the way of imposing their agenda.
This latest legislation is just the latest step in their slow march towards attempting to make California a totally gun-free state.
