Marine Veteran and Virginia resident Lloyd Muldrow stopped an armed attack and pistol-whipping on a friend at a Baltimore bar. The responding police officers thanked him, and then arrested him!

It seems that, although the good Samaritan had a carry permit in his home state of Virginia where he is a security specialist, he was not licensed to carry in the People’s Republic of Maryland! Now he faces a trial with a possible 1-year jail sentence for violating a Baltimore city ordinance that bans possession of a handgun within 100 feet of a public building.

To make matters worse, Muldrow didn’t even pull his weapon out during the altercation! When they arrived, he simply notified law enforcement that he was carrying a pistol!

Muldrow arrived at a family gathering at the Tequila Sunset in Baltimore. When he entered, he saw his friend bleeding from a head injury with the assailant standing over him, shouting threats that he was going to kill everyone. The assailant was allegedly mad that Muldrow’s friend was dancing with his ex and shoved the friend; the assailant then pulled out a pistol and struck the victim, creating a serious head wound. Muldrow, who was a hand-to-hand combat instructor, knocked the assailant to the ground and held him there until police arrived.

Oh, and one more thing, the assailant’s gun disappeared during the chaos. It looks like one of this guy’s friends took the pistol from the crime scene. Weapon disappearance is common; I’ve seen it a few times. Weapons, drugs, etc. from a crime scene need to be secured ASAP or they’ll disappear.

Muldrow is fighting the charge and has already stated he will not take any kind of plea deal when he appears in court on October 31st.

“I’m not going to settle for probation or anything like that. I don’t think it’s fair,” Muldrow told The Washington Times. “I’ve carried overseas in different countries, and you’re telling me I can’t carry my weapon from one state to another? I’ve trained more than the average police officer, and I can’t carry from Virginia to Maryland? I have a real big problem with that.”

Mr. Muldrow, I have a problem with it also! This is another reason for carry-reciprocity across the country. This man served his country, is a security specialist, and has a permit in Virginia.

LEOs out there, use a bit of discretion and common sense!

That’s all for now folks! Please keep sending in your questions, tips, and article ideas. And as always – “Let’s Be Careful Out There.”
