The Arizona legislature has sent a bill to Republican Gov. Doug Ducey’s desk that would “prohibit police and sheriffs from enforcing federal gun laws that violate the 2nd Amendment,” reports the AP.
HB2111, the “2nd Amendment Firearm Freedom Act,” declares:
THIS STATE AND ALL POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THIS STATE ARE PROHIBITED FROM USING ANY PERSONNEL OR FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO ENFORCE, ADMINISTER OR COOPERATE WITH ANY ACT, LAW, TREATY, ORDER, RULE OR REGULATION OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT THAT IS INCONSISTENT WITH ANY LAW OF THIS STATE REGARDING THE REGULATION OF FIREARMS.
The bill passed the Senate this week with the support of a lone Democrat, Sen. Lisa Otondo.
Laurie Roberts, an evidently liberal columnist for the Arizona Republic, reacted with an editorial moaning, “God help us. The Arizona Legislature has now declared the state a sanctuary … for guns.”
Roberts proclaims, “Arizona will ignore any federal gun law it doesn’t like,” which is false. Roberts, like most left-wingers, has no regard for the Constitution, which this law aims to protect. It isn’t about “liking” a law or not, but about protecting the rights ensured to each law-abiding citizen of the United States. It is Roberts who doesn’t “like” HB2111, and expresses her displeasure by spreading falsehoods about it.
Roberts spreads further misinformation in her piece, writing, “Of course, this isn’t about disarming citizens. President Joe Biden isn’t going to send his goons out to pound on your door and demand your Uzi.”
Is Roberts ignorant of, or in denial about federal “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation that Biden and the Democrats are licking their chops over?
Bravo to Arizona for standing up for itself. And if you live there, be sure to keep the pressure on your lawmakers to keep up the good work! Remember, not all calls to your representatives have to be demands – thank yous matter, too.
