There’s no escaping this for Pam Bondi.

She is going to have to do something whether she likes it or not.

Pro-gun conservatives just laid down one demand for her.

While most gun owners voted for Donald Trump and are happy with him, his choice for attorney general, Pam Bondi, has received more of a mixed reception in some circles.

Her history on the issue of guns is a bit spotty, and now that she is in office she has drawn controversy for not being as enthusiastic about the issue as some would like.

She has a chance, however, to change people’s opinion of her now that the state of Colorado has passed one of the most extreme gun control laws in the entire country.

Republican legislators in the state have demanded that she take action to provide them with relief from this draconian law.

Gun owners across the state, and even across the country, will be watching with great interest to see what she decides to do.

She has a chance to do something very heroic for a large number of gun owners, but she is going to have to take decisive action.

According to The Truth About Guns, “Colorado’s sweeping new unconstitutional gun ban, just signed by Democrat Gov. Jared Polis on April 10, is already becoming the subject of scrutiny at the federal level.”

“On Wednesday, state House Republicans sent a letter to U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi asking for her newly created Second Amendment Enforcement Task Force to look into the new law, which they consider unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.”

Bondi may not be able to directly repeal the law, but she can certainly put the full force of the federal government towards opposing it in court.

That would make the court case significantly more effective than if it were only being opposed in court by various gun groups.

The article continues, “For some background, the new law, which will take effect in August 2026, bans the sale of the most popular selling rifle in America—the Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR)—unless Coloradans obtain from their county sheriff approval, based on subjective criteria, a permit-to-purchase semi-automatic firearms capable of accepting detachable magazines.

“Under the law, the sale of semi-automatic firearms capable of accepting a detachable magazine will be banned unless those purchasing the firearms are vetted by a local sheriff and complete a firearm certification course. Sheriff approval to apply for a permit-to-purchase is based on subjective criteria, which was expressly rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 2022 Bruen decision.”

The law certainly does not appear to be something that will hold up in court, but for the time being, Colorado gun owners are going to have to live under it.

Bondi can help expedite the process of getting it off the books, however, by assisting with a lawsuit against it.

Gun owners in Colorado are certainly hoping that she can do something to help them, and not just pay lip service towards the Second Amendment.
