Gun control is quickly becoming politically toxic.

One new sweeping gun control law is causing major controversy.

And everything escalated as the police revolted against this new law that just passed.

Colorado is a bit of an odd state, as there are parts of the state that are extremely conservative, and other parts of the state that are extremely liberal.

Unfortunately for gun owners, the parts that are conservative are sparsely populated, as they are largely mountainous and therefore not as hospitable for human civilization as most rural areas.

This is why the state has voted Democrat for a generation now, much to the chagrin of those in the rural areas.

Now that the state has passed perhaps the most sweeping anti-gun law in the entire country, rural sheriffs are revolting.

They are coming out strongly against the law and making their opinions heard that they believe the Democrat legislature and the governor overstepped by passing this bill.

The unease and tension in Colorado are growing over this law, which is nothing short of an attack on the state’s gun owners, and lawmakers may soon be feeling a lot of heat for their decision.

According to The Truth About Guns, “Following Gov. Jared Polis’ signing of the sweeping gun ban measure last week, some Colorado sheriffs, who have opposed the bill all along, are still speaking out against the action.

“The measure bans the sale of the most popular selling rifle in America—the Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR)—unless Coloradans obtain from their county sheriff approval, based on subjective criteria, a permit-to-purchase semi-automatic firearms capable of accepting detachable magazines.

The sheriffs are not happy that the state is tasking them with helping to enforce this law that they simply do not agree with.

And they’re making it known how harmful they think this will be to the state of Colorado and its citizens.

Here is what Sheriff Joseph Roybal said: “I am deeply disappointed in the Governor’s decision not to veto Senate Bill 25-003. Public safety experts across the state opposed this legislation, as it will be burdensome on law-abiding citizens, and have no adverse effect on criminals.”

“It is clear those who hold the power in our state legislature are more interested in carrying out a political agenda, rather than sponsoring and voting for legislation which enhances public safety and preserves the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. Senate Bill 25-003 will do nothing to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals and put small businesses out of business in Colorado.”

The silver lining for gun owners is that it is unlikely that this bill will hold up in court, as similar types of laws have been struck down by the courts, including the Supreme Court, in recent years.

Second Amendment advocacy groups will surely be queuing up lawsuits to go after the state of Colorado for creating this mess.

And it appears that a number of law enforcement officials in the state will be rooting for the law to get struck down by the courts.
