The ATF is creating a massive headache for Donald Trump.
He should consider getting rid of it at this point.
Now he is having to deal with a massive lawsuit because of the ATF.
The ATF has been trouble for many years, and now Donald Trump is stuck dealing with it as the new president.
They are reckless and they take overly aggressive action without thinking things through, and it has come back to bite them on numerous occasions over the years, including this latest one.
The ATF is getting sued by Gun Owners of America because of secret surveillance and a subsequent gag order that was put in place.
It is clear from the lawsuit that the ATF went way too far and should not have done the type of things that they did, but that is unfortunately par for the course.
Now Donald Trump and Kash Patel, who is the current head of the ATF, will have to deal with the fallout from this lawsuit.
And they will have to decide if they even want to bother defending the ATF, or if they should just negotiate something with GOA.
According to The Truth About Guns, “With no action on the topic more than two months into the Trump Administration, Gun Owners of America (GOA) has announced it has filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) over a gag order placed on its attorneys in the matter of secret surveillance documents gained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.
“GOA filed the action on March 12, a year and a half after a protective order was placed on GOA lawyers to not release the information, which the gun-rights group says is still pertinent today.”
It’s very revealing that the ATF wanted to target a group like GOA in this way, as it shows yet again that the ATF isn’t a neutral law enforcement agency, but an anti-gun activist organization.
And unfortunately, they are an anti-gun activist organization that ironically is equipped with lots of guns and the full force of the federal government.
The article continues, “The ATF eventually gave the documents to GOA, then tried to force the group to return all the documents and destroy any copies made of them.
“When GOA refused, ATF asked the court for a protective order to keep the organization from releasing the documents. Since that order has been in effect, GOA has not released the documents, but now is asking the court to allow it to release the papers.”
GOA is absolutely correct to be suing over this, as their liberties are being violated by this rogue agency that clearly is worried about what GOA might reveal if they publicized the documents.
The ATF might think that they’re doing heroic work by suppressing guns in America, but they are actually just running roughshod over the Constitution.
Donald Trump and Kash Patel should do the right thing and refuse to defend the ATF in court over this matter.
