Donald Trump is a total wild card on guns.

Nobody knows exactly what he plans to do.

And now he is receiving some very bad advice to pass major gun control.

Donald Trump has a few issues that he clearly cares deeply about and has for a long time. These include immigration, trade, and foreign policy.

Guns, however, do not seem to be something he cares as deeply about, and because of that he is liable to do either really good things or really bad things on the issue.

It depends who he is receiving advice from, and whether or not they care about the Second Amendment or are willing to dispose of it.

His record during his first term on guns was a decidedly mixed bag. Admittedly, that makes him much better than Joe Biden, who was viciously anti-gun as president.

But it still means that gun owners need to be wary of what Trump might do and put pressure on him to protect the Second Amendment.

And they should be aware of the fact that Democrats are trying to push him to pass gun control during his upcoming term.

According to The Truth About Guns, “Less than three weeks before inauguration day, some Democrat leaders in Congress are pressuring incoming President Donald Trump to support some of their gun control schemes.

“According to an Associated Press report, Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader in the U.S. Senate, has accused Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of blocking meaningful action on gun violence.

“‘This is the moment for the president to do something different and courageous,’ Schumer told the AP.”

The fact that Schumer is framing this in such a positive way towards Trump and using words like “courageous” is because he wants to flatter him into passing gun control.

Schumer thinks that by appealing to Trump’s ego he can convince him to side with him against his own base.

The article continues, “According to the report, Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently informed President Trump that any gun control proposal must include the House-passed bill to expand background checks. They argue that if that provision is not included, it will create dangerous loopholes.”

“The AP also reported that President Trump intends to announce something regarding gun control to the American public in the coming week, as stated by White House spokesman Hogan Gidley.”

Gun owners voted for Trump in very significant numbers in the election, but their support was not free or unconditional.

They need to make it clear to him that he will have a big problem politically if he goes against his own supporters on this key issue.

If they don’t do that, Trump will assume that he is free to do whatever he wants, and he may end up working with Chuck Schumer to pass new gun control laws.

This is a dangerous moment for the Second Amendment. Trump can stop it at any time, but that may only happen if he gets pressure from gun owners.
