Donald Trump is facing some serious demands.
He will be taking office as the next president in a few short weeks.
And gun owners are urging him to take one immediate action.
Conservatives across America, and gun owners in particular, are hoping that things change once Trump takes over for Joe Biden as president of the United States.
The Biden administration has not been a friendly one to gun owners, and Trump is considered to be a wild card on guns, sometimes taking positions that are friendly to gun owners and otherwise going in the opposite direction.
One key area where gun owners are hoping Trump will be better than Biden is when it comes to the actions of executive branch agencies.
Many of these agencies have acted in a heavily ideological manner under Biden when it comes to the gun issue.
Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which in theory has nothing to do with guns, has apparently tried to stack the deck in favor of gun control.
And Bearing Arms, a pro-gun publication, is demanding that Trump’s next CDC appointee do something to stop this.
Here is what they had to say: “The gun control movement took an all-of-government approach to attacking our rights during the past four years. The CDC has been one the weapons they wielded to bludgeon our freedom. Some of their mischief has been open and brazen, and some has been sneaky.”
“One of the sneak attacks was getting the CDC to yank Defensive Gun Use (DGU) statistics from the CDC website in 2022, during the tenure of CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.”
In other words, the CDC did not want to promote the fact that guns are sometimes used in an appropriate self-defense manner.
This would have strengthened the argument against gun control, of course.
The article continues, “Now that gun controllers have been kicked out of power, it’s time to seek redress for these assaults on our freedoms.”
“First and foremost, the new CDC Director must restore the DGU statistics on the CDC website, and go well beyond that. A short paragraph, a mere acknowledgment of the positive use of firearms, will not suffice anymore. Previously, the gun rights side was content with a mere hat-tip to the Second Amendment, but even that rankled the gun control activists. It’s time to force the CDC to tell the truth about defensive gun use. We should demand a complete write-up and several detailed studies of defensive gun use.”
Donald Trump is apparently not going to be able to get by on simply being better than Joe Biden.
In order to satisfy gun owners, he is going to have to make an active effort to undo the damage that Biden and other Democrats have caused to the Second Amendment.
Trump has an opportunity to be a great president for the gun community, but it is going to require serious effort on his part, and he is going to have to listen to what gun owners need.
