This is a huge failure for the gun control lobby.

They desperately needed a win during this massive court case.

But instead, the court shut down their whole agenda in one landmark ruling.

Second Amendment advocates just had a big win in Pennsylvania as the state Supreme Court protected one state law that prevents local communities from banning guns.

People were on the edge of their seats waiting for the ruling to be handed down, but once it was it became clear that supporters of the Second Amendment had won a definitive victory.

This is a big setback for gun control lobbyists who have been trying to dismantle pro-gun state laws by chipping away at them at the local level.

However, at least in Pennsylvania, that anti-gun effort cannot continue, as the state law will continue to reign supreme.

Local municipalities are not permitted to enact firearm restrictions that exceed what the state already has in place.

This could set a major precedent for court cases across the country to make similar rulings in other states where the gun control lobby is trying a similar tactic to effectively undo state laws.

According to The Truth About Guns, “In a lawsuit brought by the City of Philadelphia and community organizations, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the state’s firearms preemption law. This law forbids cities from instituting more restrictive gun statutes than the state’s laws.

“The court ruled unanimously that the plaintiffs failed to make their case that the law was unconstitutional and should be struck down.”

Of course, how courts rule on issues like this can depend heavily on what kind of judge is ruling on it, as there are activist judges throughout the country who rule based on their ideology.

However, this case could build momentum against anti-gun efforts to overturn these types of state laws, which have become more common.

The article continues, “In the case Crawford v. Commonwealth, Philadelphia argued that the preemption statutes violated the Pennsylvania Constitution by increasing the risk of gun violence. The city and a coalition of its residents also argued that two state laws prohibiting local governments from enacting local firearm regulations violated the state’s guarantee of the right to defend life and liberty.

“The ruling affirmed a decision from a lower Pennsylvania court dismissing Philadelphia’s petition with prejudice. The City of Philadelphia has repeatedly violated the state firearms preemption law, most recently attempting to ban firearms in city parks and outlaw the private manufacturing of firearms.”

This means that the City of Philadelphia will no longer be able to take away their citizens’ constitutional freedoms the way that they have been.

It is great news for people in Philadelphia, and other cities in Pennsylvania, who are legal gun owners and simply want to be left alone by their elected leaders.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ordered those leaders to respect the freedoms of their citizens and respect the law that the state has passed to guarantee protection for those citizens.
