I recently had the opportunity to meet with Congressional Candidate Judson Sapp. Sapp is running a grassroots campaign to take the soon-to-be open seat of Congressman Ted Yoho in North Florida’s Congressional District 3. Yoho promised to term limit himself and leave the House after eight years. Yoho kept his word, and now the race is on for his successor!

Sapp has been endorsed by some of President Trump’s closest allies, including his campaign advisor Roger Stone, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, and former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. Sapp is a conservative businessman and runs a Railroad Construction Company in North Florida, with operations throughout the Southeastern United States. He’s a native Floridian who says he “Loves God, babies, Trump, and guns.”

Lately, Sapp has received a lot of notice for his stance on the Second Amendment and the fact that he suspended his fundraising to concentrate on keeping the trains rolling and the supply chain full!

During our meeting, I asked Sapp for his views on the Second Amendment, and he told me a story from his past that illustrates his first experience with the value of the right to keep and bear Arms:

“I was a child in the back seat of a car with my father driving and mother as passenger. We parked at a Huntley’s Jiffy store in Fleming Island (back then an undeveloped area of Clay County, Florida). My father was at the wheel, and my mother went into the store. The store was robbed, and the men ran out to hijack our car. There was a struggle between the would-be carjacker and my father. The carjacker pointed a gun at me, but my father was carrying a pistol. My father pushed the gun aimed at me away while drawing his own. Upon seeing an armed defender, the would-be carjackers ran away.

“What if my father did not have a gun? What if they did hijack our car with me inside? Would I have even survived? It was this very personal experience that reminds me each and every day why we must protect our Second Amendment rights.”

GPM asked Candidate Sapp to complete a Second Amendment Survey, and here’s what he had to say:

GPM: Do you agree that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees a fundamental individual right to keep and bear arms that applies to all law-abiding Americans, regardless of where they live in the United States?

Sapp: Yes, and it shall not be infringed.

GPM: In 2018, Florida passed several firearms restrictions in response to the Parkland Shooting. One controversial measure was Extreme Risk Protection Orders or Red flag Laws. To date, the law has been used over 3,500 times in Florida. Red Flag laws are considered unconstitutional as they deny the accused Due Process. What is your stance on “Red Flag” Laws?

Sapp: I oppose Red Flag laws.

GPM: Are you a member of the NRA, Gun Owners of America, Unified Sportsmen of Florida, or any other gun rights /Shooting/Sportsmen’s Organization?

Sapp: I am a member of the NRA (lifetime), Gun Owners of America (lifetime), and Unified Sportsmen of Florida.

GPM: Do you support Constitutional Carry?

Sapp: Yes.

GPM: Do you support Open Carry?

Sapp: Yes.

GPM: Should background checks be required for all firearms sales, including sales between private owners?

Sapp: No.

GPM: Do you believe the SCOTUS decision in District of Columbia V. Heller, which held that the Second Amendment is an individual right rather than applying specifically to militias should be overturned?

Sapp: No. The SCOTUS is correct, the Second Amendment is a natural individual right and protected from government intervention by our Constitution.

GPM:Should the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, which shields gun manufactures & Dealers from liability when their products are used to commit crimes, be repealed?

Sapp: No. Gun manufacturers and dealers are not responsible for misuse.

GPM: What is your Position on National Concealed Carry Reciprocity?

Sapp: I support national concealed carry reciprocity as the many different state laws are confusing – and laws limiting Second Amendment rights are unconstitutional to begin with.

The election is coming soon, and conservatives need to know if their elected officials have their back and know who they work for! Judson Sapp has stated many times that he will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, including the Second Amendment. He has an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association and is endorsed by Second Amendment advocate Dana Loesch. Dana stated in her endorsement that:

“Judson Sapp is a fierce second amendment defender, he gets the issue, I have personally grilled him, and I was actually very impressed with the answers that he has given.”
